Chinabank secures back-to-back Titanium Awards on Corporate Sustainability Leadership

Chinabank Chief Sustainability Officer William Quesang

China Banking Corporation (Chinabank) has won its second Titanium Award at The Asset Corporate Sustainability Leadership Awards 2025 held on November 6 in Singapore.

The Asset stated that companies, as key global players, must successfully balance demands for profitability, stakeholder expectations, and operational resiliency with the imperative of leading a sustainable future. Their assessment rigorously evaluated how well firms embedded this balance into their business strategy.

Chinabank, for its part, is very grateful for the recognition from The Asset. “This award not only validates our commitment to building a strong and profitable institution, but also serves as a continuing inspiration for us to actively pursue the sustained and inclusive growth of the communities we serve,” Chinabank President & CEO Romeo Uyan Jr. said.

The Asset Corporate Sustainability Leadership Awards (formerly The Asset ESG Corporate Awards), recognize management excellence and ESG integration—refreshed with more focus on governance and corporate sustainability.  The evaluation process was enhanced to take a deeper dive into the intention, disclosure, and performance of the nominees, assessing how they stack up against over 500 firms across various markets and industries in Asia.

The more stringent review led to the reduction in the number of awardees from 30 last year to 23 this year.  Only four Philippine firms made the cut, three of which belong to the SM Group: Chinabank, BDO Unibank, and SM Investments Corporation.

The country’s fourth largest private universal bank, Chinabank continues to uphold its outstanding governance and sustainability practices.  A consistent Golden Arrow awardee by the Institute of Corporate Directors, the bank was also named an ASEAN Asset Class twice by the ASEAN Capital Markets Forum and is listed among the World’s Best Companies in 2024 and 2025 by TIME and Statista.
