CBC becomes one of first PH banks to launch Apple Pay

Chinabank has officially enabled Apple Pay for its credit and debit card customers, establishing itself as one of the first four banks to introduce this global contactless payment service to the domestic market.

To maximize customer convenience, Chinabank makes Apple Pay setup seamless through the My CBC mobile app. Cardholders can instantly link active CBC credit or debit cards with a click at the built-in "Add to Apple Wallet" button—no manual data entry required.

Apple Pay is accepted at grocery stores, pharmacies, restaurants, coffee shops, retail stores, and other establishments that accept contactless payments. Apple Pay can also be used to make purchases within apps and on websites without repeatedly entering payment, billing or shipping information.

Both physical point-of-sale transactions and online or in-app purchases are authenticated locally on the device using Face ID, Touch ID, or a secure passcode alongside a unique, single-use dynamic security token. The integration guarantees absolute information privacy, as actual card account numbers are never stored on Apple servers or shared with retail merchants during checkout.

"At Chinabank, we continuously enhance the way our customers pay by providing secure and convenient experiences that are aligned with our customers' evolving needs,” said Jose Julian E. Baduria Jr., Chinabank's payment solutions head. “With Apple Pay, our cardholders can enjoy a seamless way to make purchases in stores, in apps, and online using the Apple devices they use every day. This reflects our focus on delivering best-in-class payment experiences all while enabling our customers to continue enjoying the rewards and benefits of their Chinabank cards."
