China Bank appoints new Chief Compliance Officer

China Banking Corporation (China Bank) announced the appointment of Atty. Aileen Paulette S. De Jesus as Vice President and Chief Compliance Officer (CCO) effective March 1, 2018.

De Jesus is an accomplished CPA-lawyer with 28 years of experience in the areas of compliance, corporate governance, corporate law, and taxation. She will have overall responsibility to implement the Bank’s compliance program, including maintaining its nearly a century-long untarnished record of ethical and lawful operations.

Whang.  

Before joining China Bank, De Jesus was Philippine Veterans Bank’s CCO and lead officer in the implementation of its Anti Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing Program. She was also tasked to handle compliance to the Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act & Data Privacy Act. Previously, she was the Legal & Compliance Head of the Manila Branch of Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation and the Deputy General Counsel, Corporate Secretary/Assistant Corporate Secretary of various companies under the Filinvest Group.  She also held senior legal or compliance positions at Sterling Bank of Asia, Metrobank Card Corporation, and International Exchange Bank.

The Bank also achieved triple triumph for the third straight year at Corporate Governance Asia’s Asian Excellence Awards, bagging the awards for Best Investor Relations Company (Philippines), Asia’s Best CEO-Investor Relations for former President and CEO Ricardo R. Chua, and Best Investor Relations Professional (Philippines) for Senior Vice President and Investor and Corporate Relations Group Head Alexander C. Escucha.

De Jesus earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from the University of the Philippines in the Visayas in Iloilo City. She finished her Law Degree at San Sebastian College while working as an audit examiner at FEBTC (now Bank of the Philippine Islands).
